Mumbai's last gasp efforts at a draw faded away as Rest of India spinners wove their magic to have Yuvraj Singh and his men a stupendous win over the Ranji Trophy winners for the Irani Trophy.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Piyush Chawla shared the spoils almost entirely between themselves even as the efforts of the Mumbai captain, Wasim Jaffer, and Ajinkya Rahane went in vain.
Jaffer was run out for eighty-eight and Rahane's valiant attempts at he touched 191 failed give Mumbai a draw on the fifth and final day of the match. Ashwin captured five of the top six wickets in the Mumbai batting order with lbw decisions in succession. Chawla then polished off the tail with four wickets to his credit as Mumbai were chasing down a mammoth 782 for victory with draw being their better bet.
However, the day's efforts were not enough as Rest of India won by 361 runs, Yuvraj himself having plenty to celebrate with a double century himself.
