The South African cricket team followed the hopes of Bafana Bafana on television sets in the West Indies. However, they will hope not to emulate the results of the South African soccer team when they take on the West Indies in the second Test in St. Kitts.

Graeme Smith and his boys followed Bafana Bafana's dreams in the FIFA World Cup 2010 on television and although they hoped that the soccer team's first match draw would spawn hopes of a better second match, the South African team was comprehensively exposed and beaten by Uruguary in the second match.

But the mood was rendered sombre still as Nelson Mandela attended the funeral of his thirteen year old grand daughter, Zenani Mandela, who was tragically killed in a car crash while returning home from the Football Music Concert a day before the World Cup got underway. Mandela, therefore, did not attend the opening ceremony either.
However, distant South African cricket team hope to bring some cheer to their nation back home by winning the second Test as well to seal the Test series against the West Indies. And the South African captain knows the importance of staying on top of their game, "In a three-Test series the next match is just as crucial. We can’t afford to take our foot off the gas at all. Before the first Test, we spoke about the fact that we were going to be tested, not having played Test cricket for quite a while."
