Sachin Tendulkar is scoring big, with his fans that is, after turning down a lucrative liquor endorsement. But what is the message being sent to Mahendra Singh Dhoni?

The world's leading run scorer has apparently turned down a deal with a liquor company that was estimated to fetch him Rs.20 crores annually, making it the biggest endorsement if it went through. As it turns out, Dhoni has just signed with Vijay Mallya's UB Group which now towers.
However, Tendulkar towers in the department over winning the fans apparently because Tendulkar is adding to his fan base, if that is even possible given his mass following, because there is a moral reason to why Tendulkar, who is clearly amongst the richest cricketer's race, has turned down the deal to keep his promise to his late father.
Tendulkar has reportedly vowed not to endorse alchohol or tobacco brands during his time as a cricketer and he is keeping the promise made to his father. It may also be recalled that Tendulkar lost his father during the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999 in England but returned after the final rites to play a sensational knock which he then dedicated it to his father.
The UB deal though has not appeared to dent Dhoni's image in contrast as the Indian captain continues to rake in the mullah.
