Britain's Crown Prosecution Service have virtually handed the first indication of just how serious the charges against the three suspended Pakistan cricketers are by bringing corruptions charges against them and the player agent, Mazhar Majeed.

Even though Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif are awaiting the verdict of the ICC Anti Corruption tribunal, they have already received a blow in that the separate investigations by the British police have implicated the three Pakistan cricketers and the agent involved in the sting operation by the News of the World on charges of corruption and conspiracy to cheat, alluding to the spot fixing that allegedly happened during the Lord's Test between Pakistan and England mid way last year.

Although the ICC verdict is expected on Saturday, the players will feel the punch of this revelation by the prosecutors and will have to face criminal charges in Britain for which they will be expected to be present voluntarily, failing which they may even be extradited.

The implications on this are rather grave and the Pakistan cricketers must now once again follow up with their lawyers to take further course of action as they also await to learn of their fate in their respective cricket careers.

The news is bitter ahead of the verdict, even as the Pakistan Cricket Board had even suggested that the three cricketers could be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 if they were cleared of the charges. It now appears that the battle has taken a rather serious turn with the initial pronouncement as more eyes and ears will be glued tomorrow to the news emanating from the ICC.
