After speaking out against the DDCA about malpractices within the domestic structure, Sehwag has now stated that he does not want the vice captaincy of the Indian cricket team.

In another startling revelations, Virender Sehwag stated that he no longer nursed ambitions to become India's cricket team and has asked the selectors to name a vice captain. He has been the vice captain on and off, even exchanging the role with Sachin Tendulkar briefly before the 2007 World Cup and even had V.V.S. Laxman as the Test vice captain.
But recovering from a shoulder injury, Sehwag has now stated that he would like a new vice captain to be groomed to take over after Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the current Indian team captain while he will focus on winning more matches for India by scoring runs.
Labelling Sourav Ganguly the best captain he has played under, Sehwag also stated that his fight against the DDCA, Delhi District Cricket Association, was against the system and nor targeted at any particular individual.
One wonders if the position will now officially come back to Yuvraj Singh who has not hidden his ambitions of one day leading the Indian team.
