A day after the city of Mumbai witnessed a heavy security cover for the visit of Rahul Gandhi to the city, threatened by the Shiv Sena, the city once again geared up for a showdown, this time it was SRK v the Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray.

Shah Rukh Khan, co owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, became the surprise (or not surprise) target of the Shiv Sena that took on him for empathizing with the Pakistan cricketers, none of whom was picked during the IPL 3 auctions.
Ever since SRK has come under attack as has his movie "My Name is Khan". Increased security at his Bandra residence "Mannat" was marked as a result of the Shiv Sena threatening to prevent him from entering the city.
Landing from London, Shah Rukh Khan, led by a huge security personnel and Mumbai police force, held an impromptu press conference outside the airport where he told reporters he would not change his stance just because someone questioned his patriotism. While he did not shy away from meeting the Shiv Sena chief, he felt there was no need to explain where he came from because he was an Indian primarily who believed in living in harmonious existence with his neighbours and he only expressed the same when supporting the Pakistan cricketers.
When prodded for the umpteenth time about the reasons why the KKR did not pick a Pakistan cricketer, SRK stated lack of availability in the team as well as the insecure prevailing environment having influenced the decision for the final slot.
Stating that Mumbai had given him anything, SRK also believed he was not in the wrong and therefore, would not cower under pressure.
