After fighting off allegations that his wife, Sania Mirza, Shoaib Mallik has earned himself a place in the second Test against Australia at Headingley, Leeds.

The former Pakistan captain was left out of the first Test at Lord's which Pakistan lost by 150 runs. While some reports attributed to Mallik being distracted by his wife and India's tennis player, and skipping practice matches, the Pakistan team manager denies that any of it was true and that the all roudner was really lacking form.
However, after the huge loss and with Shahid Afridi not only stepping down from the Pakistan captaincy but also, announcing his retirement from test cricket yet again, Pakistan had a slot to fill and Mallik, for his part, is stated to have reiterated his commitment to the Pakistan team and is expected to take Afridi's place for the second Test, form notwithstanding.
