Former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Mallik, and not Salman Butt, should have been made Pakistan cricket captain, so says former Pakistan coach.

Geoff Lawson feels that Mallik, not opener Salman Butt, should have been entrusted with the responsibility of the Pakistan captaincy following Shahid Afridi deciding to retire from Test cricket after the first Test against Pakistan.
Lawson felt that Mallik's first stint as captain came when he was too young but he felt Mallik was the "obvious" choice now since the people who did not support him them are no longer with them, who he was referring to has not been mentioned specifically.
Mallik was not even part of the playing eleven for the first Test at Lord's.
