Just days before the South Africans commence their tour of India, their coach, Mickey Arthur, has reportedly quit his position in a shocking move.

South African captain, Graeme Smith, is believed to have played an inevitable role in forcing this situation upon Arthur who was expected to continue till 2012, beyond the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Apparently, Smith and Arthur could not see eye to eye on certain issues during England's tour of South Africa and it led to huge vaccuum of understanding where Arthur simply did not see him going forward with the team.
There are also a few conflicting reports where Arthur spoke to Cricket South Africa (CSA) that his role as a coach had reached saturation point after South Africa only drew with England 1-1 after being in a position to force victory in two matches.
Others attributed Arthur's decision as something that was brewing after Smith had apparently hinted at the support staff for South Africa having plateaued in their reach for no.1 Test team.
A formal announcement is expected to be made tomorrow by CSA and Arthur himself. Corrie Van Zyl, the former bowling coach, is expected to play the role of a caretaker coach on the tour to India.
