Sl Nz T20I 2: Bond, NZ Make It a Breeze

Sri Lanka have not been able to win a Twenty20 match since their semi final match in the ICC World Twenty20 in England, UK. It would not change against a jubilant New Zealand.

It would have been hard for any team to recover losing three wickets for just eleven runs in less than four overs in any cricket match, let alone Twenty20.

Shane Bond's dismissal of and Kyle Mill's double strike of Udawatte and Sanath Jayasuriya left Sri Lanka reeling. Thereafter despite the heroics of a past and present captain, Sri Lanka just had too much of an overhaul on their hands.

Jayawardene made forty-one enterprising runs that kept the New Zealand fielders alert as did Kumar Sangakkara's fifty-nine but New Zealand always came up with an extra piece of innovation and thoroughly deserved their win.

While Brendon McCullum scored runs, his brother, Nathan McCullum pulled off another gem spell for New Zealand picking two wickets in quick time in the middle including that of Jayawardene.

Sangakkara's innings was one of frustration and desperation to win it single handedly, but it was not to be as New Zealand bowled well and fielded even better and showed real life for the first time on tour, after that mood lifting win in the first Twenty20.

Sri Lanka managed 148 in their Twenty overs even as Shane Bond derailed their train at the end with two more wickets.

New Zealand ran away with the Twenty20 series, Sri Lanka have lost that winning momentum and India will be arriving soon for the tri series. What a cocktail! Right now, the only cocktails flowing will be in the New Zealand dressing room, thoroughly well deserved as Jesse Ryder swept away the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series awards.
