Sri Lanka will now play hosts to India for one day series before heading back to Pakistan for the Test series. But that does not mean that their focus is wavering, even as team India come out of an extended, unexpected break.

Sri Lanka bounced back from their defeat in the first match of three one day internationals against Pakistan to win the series 2-1. After testing waters against lowly teams like Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, they now take on India on home turf. The last time the two teams met in the Emerald Isles, India won the series narrowly 3-2. Now Sri Lanka look to avenge revenge on their neighbour for previous mistakes.
While Sri Lanka have warmed up to the series, focus will also be on team India who have not had a game since England left India as the tour to Pakistan was cancelled in the aftermath of the terror attacks in Mumbai. Mahendra Singh Dhoni who himself went previously missing for the Duleep trophy tie has turned up for the series.
Dhoni, the Padma Shri awardee at this year’s Republic Day, will be missing his fellow Padma Shri awardee Harbhajan Singh who is injured and will not be playing this series. But Dhoni is confident that Pragyan Ojha and Ravindra Jadeja will not find the going too hard because of the conditions that do tend to favour spin. The toss though may have a say as the series gets underway tomorrow with the first of five one day internationals.
