There is expectation in the air. But on two occasions thus, it has been met with disappointment as Sourav Ganguly has not taken to the field since signing up for the Pune Warriors. What's holding Dada back in IPL 4?

Sourav Ganguly was expected yet again to make the starting line up for the Pune Warriors India against the Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. However, for a second match in a row, Sourav has not featured for the Pune Warriors since signing up for them. Given that the Pune Warriors lost seven matches prior to the match, one would have though inducting Dada would be an automatic decision.
However, while there is speculation that the Pune Warriors India is holding back the former Kolkata Knight Riders captain, the camp itself is suggesting that Sourav Ganguly is being given the option to decide on his own return to the IPL. The only problem is that the Pune Warriors cannot afford to spend too many matches without his experience if they want to still make the final four of the IPL 4 season, which is still difficult at this point.
It would that player such as Sourav Ganguly who were overlooked altogether at the IPL 4 auctions would be eager to prove how wrong the IPL franchisees have been. However, while Chris Gayle has made the most of his four outings since signing up for the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement player, Ganguly appears still reluctant to take the bat onto the field.
While the interest in the IPL 4 has been centred around the Kolkata Knight Riders v Pune Warriors match for a possible showdown with Sourav Ganguly and his former IPL team that did not retain him, every match of the Pune Warriors India has become a highly anticipated one since Ganguly joined the team.
While one would have though that Ganguly would not hesitate to play his first match, given that the tournament is nearing the final stages and Ganguly's experience would be considered valuable, thus far, Yuvraj Singh and his men are doing it without him, begging the question that if money was never an agenda for Dada in the first place, can it only be rustiness that is forcing Ganguly to take a cautious step. But perhaps he is running out of time to make a case for himself, particularly if he wants to convince the franchisees of an IPL 5 season.
