The FIFA World Cup 2010 is happening in South Africa and the most unhappy absentees are none other than the members of the South African cricket team who are far, far away in the Caribbean for a full tour of the West Indies on official assignment.

South Africa may have pulled off a four day win over the West Indies in the first Test in Trinidad but their eyes were elsewhere - on the television sets following the progress of Bafana Bafana, South Africa's national soccer team ( yes, it is soccer there apparently seen in above pic with South African President, Jacob Zuma ) even as the Test was in progress.
Ab de Villiers did not bother to hide the fact that South Africa were cheering the team, even the cricket team was cheering for the host team from afar, though not by choice.
Now any glimpse of the World Cup is happening through pubs where they follow the game or by planning workout and training sessions around the timing of the second match for Bafana Bafana, tonight's match against Uruguay ahead of their second Test in St. Kitts.
Will South Africa's cricket team's concentrate waver? West Indies will pray for anything.
