Malcolm Speed has slammed Sharad Pawar as the ICC President even as he supported John Howard's nomination for the post in two years' time.

Speed, the former ICC Chief Executive Officer, was against Pawar as ICC President evident through his words where he feels that Pawar will have to divide work between cricket and his role in India as the Union Minister for Agriculture. Speed was also unsure of Pawar's abilities as a cricket administrator, "The man who is to be the next ICC president, Sharad Pawar, is the Minister for Agriculture in the Indian government - a serious full-time job, feeding 1.2 billion people. He is a good and fair man but he will be working part-time as ICC president and, take it from me, he knows little about cricket administration."
The former ICC CEO threw his wieght behind Howard for the nomination for the ICC Vice President and was critical of the manner in which Howard was being treated, "Rest assured, he (Howard) was not rejected because of his lack of experience as a cricket administrator, his strong opposition to Robert Mugabe's disastrous regime in Zimbabwe or his outspoken views about Muttiah Muralitharan's controversial bowling action. There is more to it than that."
Speed himself had a turbulent exit following the chaos that ensued with Zimbabwe cricket.
