Even as the primary interests surround the Indian team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, there is a great deal of interest in what happens after the ICC event including the position of the Indian coach which remains ambiguous at this time.

Even as the Indian selectors were sitting down to pick India's squad for the World Cup, Stephen Fleming, the former New Zealand captain and current Chennai Super Kings coach in the IPL, chose to dispel rumours that he may succeed Gary Kirsten as the next Indian coach.
While Gary Kirsten has come in for a great deal of praise from the Indian cricketers themselves, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian captain, also hinted recently that the former South African cricketer may not renew his contract with the BCCI with apparently family interests dictating his time apart from them. Cricket South Africa have also sent feelers as interest in Kirsten to succeed Corrie van Zyl, the South African coach after the World Cup.
Amidst all this, came word that Fleming could well be India's next coach which also met with approval with the current New Zealand captain, Daniel Vettori, who not only rates Fleming highly but also, believes Fleming's close association with CSK may clinch the deal.
However, Fleming himself has written them as as merely rumours, stating once more why he liked his IPL coaching job because he took him apart from home and family for only about two to three months in an entire year and left him to concentrate on his business as well.
Fleming was considered one of the most innovative captains in the game in his time and that he chooses not to commit himself to any team must be talent missed in the think tank department.
