The national selectors once again keep their hopes on Andrew Strauss. Despite England's 5-0 defeat against Sri Lanka under the leadership of Strauss, the national selectors gave another chance to this left-handed batsman. He will now the lead England for the first against Pakistan at Lord's next week.

With this appointment, the debate over the captaincy seems to be ended in England cricket. Andrew Flintoff would take over the charge from Strauss as soon as he will recover from ankle injury.
Earlier we have told here that England cricket is passing through a bad phase in the absence of Michael Vaughan. However, the national selectors have no option but to bestow the captaincy to Strauss because Vaughan's career is under threat due to persistent knee injury.
This is for the time Strauss is leading the England Test Squad at Lord's. He must prove his leadership quality in the Test cricket because his captaincy is under attack due home series loss to Sri Lanka.
