While the whiff of such surprise was in the air, it appeared more like an idle man’s wild imagination. But the announcement ‘officially’ from the BCCI was still stunning to say the least.

Given the constant back and forth between the Home Ministry and the IPL organizers and the clock ticking down on the event, the IPL organizers, read: the BCCI, took the preemptive decision to take the IPL out of India.
Making the announcement, the BCCI President Shashank Manohar and IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi reiterated the same reasons – the lack of security assurance and the clash with the Lok Sabha elections as the leading cause for taking such a decision.
It certainly was a storm in the tea cup, rather late brunch on Sunday and the reactions were but to follow soon thereafter.
