Former Indian cricketer and commentator, Sunil Gavaskar, has surprisingly taken a dig at those deriding the Indian Premier League ( IPL ).

In his column, Gavaskar, who is also on the panel of the IPL, vent out his feelings of what he thought of those who were talking about the IPL in light of the scandals that have emerged during the course of the IPL 3.
Stating that those who chose the electronic media to show their ire against the scandals involving the IPL and Lalit Modi were either those who had a penchant for the limelight or those that had something to seek vengeance for or have been denied a role in the IPL, in Gavaskar's own words. Gavaskar even went onto state that the financial discrepancies were not caught because they were observed by financial experts.
Gavaskar's views are usually forthright, but one gathers from the nature of this column, he has perhaps not taken kindly to critics and observers of the game who have questioned the working of men such as himself, MAK Pataudi and Ravi Shastri, the three paid members on the IPL governing council.
Just to provide an alternate perspective to Gavaskar's alluding to the detractors, there is a section of people across all fields that actually feels let down by the scandals after having embracing the IPL with open arms.
