The last time South Africa were involved in a Twenty20 international with Australia, Ricky Ponting commented that there were too many captains in the South African dressing room. This time Johan Botha has another chance to prove him wrong.

Botha was still learning the ropes as it were after Graeme Smith was ruled out with two damaged hands. The T20 games predictably served only as a lesson of survival before Botha sharpened the sword during the one day series.
Now that Botha has had success in the one day game, as spinner and as captain, he has a chance to make amends for those Twenty20 losses. This time he will slip into the captain's shoes a little bit easier. Once again Smith's injury has prompted the captaincy change but it has given Botha a rare opportunity to perhaps set things right in his own country.
