Ten Days before Spotfixing Verdict, Mohammad Aamer Plays Club Match, Tenders Apology

It would seem that either matters are not being taken seriously enough or that people are really that naive to not follow rules to the T. With less than ten days to go before the ICC announces its verdict in the spot fixing scandal, Mohammad Aamer finds himself in hot water again.

Aamer is currently undergoing trial by the ICC anti corruption tribunal that will decide on the fate of Aamer, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif in the case involving allegations of spot fixing in the Lord's Test.

Since the three Pakistan cricketers have been suspended by the ICC, they have been forbidden from participating in cricket matches in any format or across any level.

However, first the Pakistan cricketers were pulled out of training with the Pakistan cricketers in the immediate aftermath of the match fixing scandal. Now Aamer has broken the rules once more when he was seen bowling a few overs in a club match.

When the violation was brought to the notice of the ICC, the news that the ICC would investigate the matter was quickly countered by an apology supposedly made by Aamer to one of the officials. What seems very bizarre is that while the officials are quick to jump to Aamer's aid, they are less prudent when it comes to educating their cricketers on the do's and don'ts of the game.

It is unimaginable that Aamer would not know of the status of his participation or that the officials were not be in the know how. At a time when there is a great deal of apprehension about the punishment if it is meted out of the eighteen year old fast bowling sensation, surely they could have taken better precautions than land in hot water.

After all the allegations against the three cricketers are not small by any stretch of the imagination. If found guilty, they will be punished in accordance with the highest degree of disregard shown to the game.

As some would say, when will they ever learn?
