This has to be a subdued arrival for the New Zealand cricket team, aka. Kiwis / Black Caps, as they arrive in India.

The New Zealand cricket team arrived in India in a lukewarm welcome from cricket fans and it is not surprising why. The team lost the Bangladesh ODI series 4-0 and have faced much criticism back home. It has been a tough time for Daniel Vettori, the New Zealand captain, and his team who have received from rather unkind remarks from their coach, Mark Greatbatch, about the abilities of some of the cricketers.

The Kiwis, or the Black Caps as they are now known, will face India in Tests as well as ODIs. And going by recent performances, particularly after beating Australia 2-0 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, team India are on a high and it is hard to see the Kiwis making serious dent to the egos of some of the Indian cricketers. That will be the greatest challenge for New Zealand as they take on the world's no.1 Test team.

In that light, perhaps it is only too wise that the Kiwis have landed and headed straight for training.
