Former Australian cricketer, Jeff Thompson, is once again on the case of Ricky Ponting.

The former fast bowler feels that the selectors deserve the axe and that Ponting as the Australian captain cannot be far behind. He was appalled that Australia lost the Ashes despite having eight centuries and three top wicket takers and stated that the final overs at Cardiff in the first Test would become permanent nightmares for Ponting in his latter years.
Thompson blasted Ponting was returning to Australia to rest because in his opinion Ponting should have been in England standing by the team and facing the barrage instead of letting them go at it on their own.
Cricket Australia (CA) announced that it was resting Ponting between the Tests and the ODIs against England which Ponting was also grateful for.
But Thompson has dubbed this act as Ponting failing to do his duty of being the last off the sinking ship and instead escaping ahead of the others in a life boat.
Thompson also rubbed Merv Hughes by stating that since he was present, the selectors were not shooting in the dark but rather they should have had better sense to use the spinner, Nathan Hauritz, for the final Test.
