Robin Singh may have reasons to feel aggrieved as the word on the street is that Duncan Fletcher, the Indian coach, will take up his first assignment with a new fielding coach for team India in fellow Zimbabwean Trevor Penny.

The Indian cricket team will not only have a new coach but also, a new fielding coach if the news can be confirmed. Before the former cricketers ask Penny who?, it needs to be mentioned that Penny is not an unfamiliar in cricket, his latest stints as coach have involved him with the England team when Fletcher was the England coach and he has also worked as the assistant coach for Sri Lanka when Tom Moody took the head coach role.

While there have been questions raised by former cricketers about the rationality of foreign coaches, one can expect slighter rumbling upon confirmation because while Fletcher may have faith in Penny to turn around India's fielding prowess, something Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian captain, was heard complaining about several times during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, closer to home, Robin Singh was sacked along with the bowling coach, Venkatesh Prasad, during Gary Kirsten's tenure as the Indian coach.

While Eric Simons is expected to carry on in the bowling department from Kirsten to Fletcher despite the change of regime, Penny is set to become the new addition. While many have commented on the fact that India had perhaps done the wrong thing in firing Robin Singh because India did need to fortify the area, as also their present bowling woes, Penny's appointment is also likely to be greeted with mixed feelings.
