Sri Lanka and New Zealand are awaiting for India to arrive in the tri series ODI but will take on each other before they go after India individually.

Sri Lanka and New Zealand play in the first ODI of the tri series and naturally with blows being exchanged with New Zealand losing the Test series but bouncing back to the win the Twenty20 matches, both teams will be looking to gain further ground.
This will also be the final real match practice for the three teams before they head to South Africa for the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
With the location being Sri Lanka, naturally the hosts are feeling the heat more as Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan captain, did during the pre series press conference. But they are hoping once India arrives, that will dissipate as India are the higher ranked team amongst the three.
Daniel Vettori, the New Zealand captain, will be hoping his team can take the momentum of the two Twenty20 matches into the ODI series. It will not be easy given that they lost the warm up match against Sri Lanka A and their batsmen will need to apply themselves over the length of the fifty over game if they are to deny an all Asian final.
