Tri Series ODI 3 Half Time: Bangladesh Set Impressive 297 Target for Do-Or-Die India

After tasting defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in their first ODI of the Idea Cup tri series in Bangladesh, under pressure India will face heat from Bangladesh chasing a massive total in the third ODI of the series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

India will need a massive innings from one of their explosive batsmen and a couple of vital partnerships to avoid ignominy in two matches in a row. All this was possible through a combination of factors.

India's sloppy fielding, lacklustre bowling and a certain amount of daring and elan from the Bangladesh batsmen ensured that Bangladesh set a challenging target of 296 for the Indians. And even with the dew being a factor, it will still be a task for the Indians who are desperate to get the points on board and stay alive.

Bangladesh were racing to eighty in only the first ten overs when India had their first breakthrough, that of Tamim Iqbal who scored a forty-two ball sixty. His opening partner, Imrul Kayes, went onto score seventy runs even as Mohammad Ashraful was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja even as he looked good for more at twenty-nine.

But even as Bangladesh appeared to wobble in the frenzy of setting a total, a couple more enterprising knocks ensured that Bangladesh would not be short changing themselves, not by much. Raqibul Hasan made thirty-two runs from forty balls while Mohammadullah really pressed the advantage, scoring a blazing forty-five run sixty, to complete matters at the other end.

While Bangladesh will now have to show hunger in the field to win, with dew going against them, India will have to work up an appetite over the break if they are to avoid being humbled by their minnow neighbours.
