A century by Upul Tharanga rounded up a day that belonged almost entirely to Sri Lanka much to the chagrin of the hosts at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Tharanga completed his century as Sri Lanka posted an emphatic victory in round 2 and fourth ODI of the Idea Cup. Bangladesh were at the receiving end of the first finalists of the tournament. But another man would not be denied his century too - the former Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene, as the duo formed a match winning partnership for the first wicket worth 215 in the chase of 250.

Bangladesh whimpered in setting a target, a day after they posted 296 against India. Imrul Kayes, Raqibul Hasan and Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan all had starts in the forties, but none failed to ensure a century, giving Sri Lankan wickets at regular intervals and virtually handing the match to Bangladesh.
