Despite Sri Lanka's desperate efforts with the bat, they were completely flat in a contest that saw India make it to the final of the Idea Cup, rendering their final ODI against Bangladesh redundant.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir scored an identical seventy-one while Dinesh Karthik made a better case for himself than he has with previous opportunity, making forty-eight runs in the chase of 214.
The target to chase was rendered modest after Zaheer Khan, bowling first change, showed first real signs of life, picking up three wickets to throw Sri Lanka completely off the balance. Apart from Kumar Sangakkara, there was only another innings of significant defiance.
Identical fifty-nine partnerships between Sangakkara and Suraj Randiv and thereafter, between Randiv and Thilan Thushara. While Sangakkara's sixty runs and Randiv's impressive fifty-six runs were not match winners, they helped Sri Lanka surpass the 200 run mark even as Amit Mishra made full use of the resting Harbhajan Singh's slot to pick three wickets as well.
But the run chase was far from daunting for India to complete the comprehensive win by eight wickets in just 32.4 overs to book their place in the final, also against Sri Lanka.
