Cricket South Africa were strong in their conviction about wanting to put the Umpire Decision Review System to use in the forthcoming India South Africa series. But once again India appear to be standing in the way.

South Africa always knew they had a battle on their hands trying to convince reluctant Indian cricket team to adopt to the UDRS system. But India have been against it from the very inception and continue on their stance despite the fact that there were situations in the past such as the first Test between India and Australia in Mohali that would have aided them significantly. A couple of Indian cricketers are now changing their minds but it will be a while before team India as a whole does the same as does the BCCI.

CSA have been trying to get India to change their mind and it is now clear that this is virtually mission impossible as India have taken a no vote in every series where the UDRS has been an issue, whether as a host nation or as visitors with the ICC leaving loopholes for teams such as India to reject it anyway.

There has been a great divide amongst nations that have wanted to use the system despite its flaws and others like India vehemently opposing it until the system is a 100 percent failproof. It has led to a great deal of consternation even as the ICC is keen that the UDRS will become a part of the World Cup directly in the one day format.
