Umar Akmal is Not Faking Finger Injury in World Cup in Support of Kamran Akmal again

Wonder why Umar Akmal is icing his foot? There were those questions cropping again. After all brotherly love was displayed once before, although unsuccessfully. While the Pakistan cricket manager claims it was a finger injury, Akmal seems to have suffered not one, but two injuries...maybe a third through the speculation.

The Pakistan team management has denied a repeat of the Australia fiasco involving the Akmal brothers when in a similar situation where Kamran Akmal received flak over serious wicket keeping lapses that resulted in the infamous Sydney Test loss for Pakistan, Umar Akmal has also been the centre of attention in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

In Australia, Umar Akmal protested the possibility of Kamran being dropped for the Hobart Test by faking an injury in protest that was later dismissed with both brothers taken to task. Even as Kamran was facing the heat for dropping Ross Taylor twice as New Zealand beat Pakistan, the chance that Kamran could be relieved off the gloves was also met with news that Umar was injured and may not play the next match.

Four days ago, Umar Akmal had an injured finger and a couple of days later he was nursing his ankle. Unsure about whether there was a brotherly bonding issue again or serious concerns about the Pakistan squad, the team management obviously felt the need to clarify that there was no malpractice at hand and that Umar had indeed injured his finger which would have ruled him out of the match against Zimbabwe.
