The umpires who stood in the fourth Test at Lord's in the now controversial England Pakistan Test series were aware of the unusual no balls but did not think there were sinister reasons behind them.

New Zealand umpires Tony Hill and Billy Bowden apparently had a discussion about the length of deviation of the bowlers' front foot during the no balls being bowled but did not think there was anything more than the bowler toying with the batsman.
Hill is quoted as saying in an interview that while he felt suspicious that the no ball bowled by Mohammad Aamer was deliberate, he thought Aamer was trying trick England batsman, Jonathan Trott. Speaking about Mohammad Asif, the umpire claimed to be aware of the smallest deviation, comparing the accuracy to that of Australia's Glenn McGrath, but did not think spot fixing was the malicious intent behind the no balls.
