He is one veteran cricketer and perhaps one of the greatest ever produced by the African nations - But of late he is more famous for his indisciplinary acts than his batting skills. gibbsjpg_54

Herschelle Gibbs has been under the scanner for his alleged involvement in the match fixing scandal and latest to make the list is his racist comments during the first test against Pakistan at Centurion, well caught on the stump microphone.

Gibbs is to face a disciplinary panel for the offence; however, the South African Cricket Board(CSA) in his defense has come out with a statement that states: the comment was made after the members of the crowd made comments on Paul Harris fielding at the rope and not to any player.

PCB however has lodged an official complaint of the matter to the match referee Chris Broad, who will assess the issue and could ban Gibbs for a couple of Tests and impose a fine on the player.

CSA will hear the proceedings of the case at any earliest date. If Gibbs is proven guilty he should face a sever penalty which could serve as a deterrent for the future restricting the players from blemishing the purity of the Sport.

UPDATED: 16th January.
