Former England captain who retired just prior to this year's Ashes has asked England to build on this Ashes to become number one team in the world.

Vaughan believes that if England beat Australia, as they were expected to after the third day's play at the Oval in the fifth Test, they should not rest but rather prepare to beat Australia again in two years' time in the away Ashes and establish themselves as the number one Test team.
Vaughan stated that while the 2005 Ashes victory was tremendous, England could not progress beyond it and he felt that with a second chance, England should not squander the opportunity.
He also apologised for wanting Stuart Broad dismissed early from the England squad but has asked for comparisons not be made with the retiring Andrew Flintoff. He also believed that with the enterprising Jonathan Trott, England have found the right balance and the right environment for Kevin Pietersen to thrive in.
He stated that Andrew Strauss thoroughly deserved this success but that he should go on for more.
