Waqar Feels Mitchell Has Potential to Eclipse Akram as Best Left Arm Bowler

Former Pakistan captain and current Pakistan team bowlign and fielding coach, Waqar Younis, has great expectations of Australia's Mitchell Johnson.

Waqar has always rated Wasim Akram the best left arm fast bowler in the world. However, he feels that if anyone were to inherit that tag, Mitchell Johnson was probably the one.

In Waqar's opinion, Johnson, if injury free, has at least five or six years up his sleeve and in that time, he could well surpass Akram's Test record of 414 Test wickets.

Mitchell Johnson has had an impressive run in Test cricket and currently leads the attack in the absence of Brett Lee and Waqar feels that Mitchell is the best thing to have happened to Australia since the emergence of Lee himself.

Johnson's only major hiccup came during the Ashes, especially at Lord's in the second Test, but Johnson has grown up since and Waqar feels his record lends credence to his prediction. Johnson already has 142 wickets from 31 Test match appearances at a phenomenal rate of 51.88 which is a shade better than Akram's overall strike rate at 54.65.

Waqar touts him to go places but surely he would not want Mitchell Johnson firing on all cylinders in the final Test at Hobart.
