Was Ravi Shastri Referring to Shane Warne's Cosmetic Surgery Rumours?

It is usually Shane Warne who bamboozles opposition batsmen. But the poser from Ravi Shastri at the end of the Rajasthan Royals match against the Delhi Daredevils in Jaipur certainly had the former Australian leg spinner stunned.

For sometime now, or rather the better part of a week in India, and a lot longer back in Australia itself, there have been comments about Shane Warne. Gone was the flab around his face and indeed to some extent his body, and replaced by a face that looked plastered rather than natural.

One look at Warne and it was hard to believe it was the same blond nemesis. Warne's experimentation with his hair has been well documented and his hair antics for a more youthful look as opposed to a balding one was certainly picked up by several cricketers. But looking at the patch work on his face, it would perhaps be safe to say that there will be cautious notes exchanged before Warne is discussed.

Indeed several reports even mentioned the opinions of cosmetic surgeons who were also of the opinion that Warne's eyebrow lifts or his tighter chin and jaw line could not have been a natural side effect to weight loss. With his eyebrows virtually stuck to his forehead, there were even suggestions that the legendary Australian spinner who as the Rajasthan Royals captain-cum-coach may have resorted to Botox.

Although Warne has denied it all along, perhaps Ravi Shastri, as the presenter at the post match presentation, thought it would be worth an ask in any case. The former Indian all rounder took the opportunity to calling upon Warne to speak as the RR captain and the Man of the Match at the end of the Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Daredevils match to ask if Warne's changed facade was all a matter of sweating it out in the gym.

In response, Warne had a stunned cum exasperated look, and not quite knowing what to say, simply blurted that he had indeed been working it out a lot in the gym.

But if this is the kind of face sculpting that comes out of several hours in the gym, perhaps it is time to take a different route to the whole weight loss routine.

This is not the first time that the reference has been made with plenty of Australians quite stunned at Warne's image during his show "Warnie" that was played out in the course of the Ashes 2010-'11, and that was some feat in itself given that the Shane Warne-Liz Hurley romance had become the soap opera across the continents.
