Watson Empathizes with Former Royals Mate, Kamran Akmal

Australia's latest opener in Test cricket, Shane Watson, feels for Kamran Akmal even as the latter has been axed for the third Test beginning in Hobart tomorrow.

Watson was team mates with Kamran Akmal during season 1 of the IPL held in India as they were playing for the Rajasthan Royals. While Watson went onto become an integral member of the team on the backing of Shane Warne and forged his way back into the Australian team, Akmal's career has reached a standstill. He also did not play the IPL 2 in South Africa following the stalemate between Indo-Pak relations.

But Watson emphatizes with Kamran Akmal and feels that the intense media focus on the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman has also played its part in highlighting the negatives as Akmal dropped several catches en route on the tour.

Watson had only kind words for Akmal stating he was a good player and friend and it was sad to see how things had turned out for him.
