As expected the saga between Chris Gayle and the West Indies Cricket Board is not about to reach an early truce. Instead, the WICB has stepped up its game, even though towing the dignified line, and believed it has enough to exposed that Gayle is not painting the true picture about his shunning the West Indies duty and opting for the IPL 4.

Although Chris Gayle was not picked in the original IPL 4 auctions, a late call from the Royal Challengers Bangalore have given the former West Indies captain to play in the IPL 4 edition and have an immediate impact with a century even as West Indies have struggled to produce results against the visiting Pakistan team.
Gayle has also been fighting another battle, off the field, as he claims that the West Indies Cricket Board had given him the cold shoulder, leaving him no choice but to take the IPL 4 contract. His comments came at a time when the West Indies Cricket left out some of the big names even as it was common knowledge that Gayle had not signed the WICB central contract.
The West Indies Cricket Board is now claiming to be taking a higher ground and not standing in the way of a lucrative Twenty20 deal even as they have expressed that they have had trouble with the belligerent left handed batsman and that their efforts to get in touch with the all rounder with a view to play a role in the West Indies Pakistan series had failed to yield positive results for the West Indies.
It is interesting how Gayle reacts to this latest salvo because the WICB claims to have in its possession, evidence by way of emails and phone calls that the all rounder is said to have failed to respond to despite the WICB's attempts to get him on board. These are serious allegations the WICB is making about the player but they have decided not to wash dirty linen in public to the extent that the public will not be privy to the actual dialogue between the board and player. Given the seriousness, Gayle may have to respond after all.
