The ICC left the decision of the Umpire Decision Review System in the hands of the host country. Yet Sri Lanka are complaining that India failed to accept the UDRS system. Why?
The ICC has wanted to make the UDRS mandatory across Test cricket everywhere. It implied that the UDRS would be used at the discretion of the host board in consultation with the visiting board. However, while Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan captain, is vehement about the Indians denying the UDRS, one wonders why the Sri Lankan cricket board did not enforce it stronger to the BCCI about the Sri Lankan stance? Was it the clout of the BCCI? This was their opportunity to exercise control as the host nation. But perhaps the Indians pitched a stronger denial.
