It was a let down in many ways from Netherlands as West Indies made a strong impression with a near flawless performance albeit against an associate nation at the Ferozeshah Kotla in New Delhi in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Group B match.

Kemar Roach struck deadly not once but six times, three times consecutively, to ensure Netherlands never even got as far their knees in terms of chasing down West Indies' 330.

Netherlands were expected to be the strongest contenders amongst the associate nations but completely disappointed in their efforts against the West Indies, against whom many gave a fair chance. In West Indies' defense, they put up a performance that will signal that they are not to be taken lightly because on their day, they can be a force to reckon with.

West Indies' total was built on Chris Gayle turning it on with the bat, eighty runs even as he starred in a century stand for the opening wicket with Devon Smith, the latter himself making a half century. One short of a half century from Ramnaresh Sarwan and a typical Kieron Pollard innings for sixty runs ( off only twenty-seven balls ) later, West Indies found themselves in an incredible position at half time.

Netherlands did not have an answer on the night as Tom Cooper led a solitary resistance even as there was carnage all round him. Sulieman Benn opened the bowling and snagged an early wicket to go with the two he would take later in the innings. However, it was his opening bowling partner, Kemar Roach, who played havoc with the Dutch team, taking the final three wickets of what turned out to be the final three balls of the innings, to score a fine World Cup hat trick even as Netherlands were skittled for 115.
