England's patience is apparently running out for Kevin Pietersen. Apparently the exasperation is contagious because Chris Gayle stated the possibility of strike is back on even as officials of the WICB are talking positively of the outcome of the talks.

After England won the fourth ODI, the WI captain Chris Gayle stated that no resolution has been reached over the deadlock over players' salaries and therefore, there was every possibility that the fifth ODI could still see a player boycott.
But once again the WICB is stating that there has been progress and the crisis could well be averted. While some within the West Indies cricket circles are suggesting that the West Indian players have a habit of chronically breaking into such unsavoury situations because they hanker for more, Gayle has openly stated that the lack of structure regarding meeting the payments of players was getting to the players and some kind of an order had to be put into place to prevent further player angst.
England themselves would not mind too much, going back home with the ODI series squared at two all. After all, Andrew Strauss, the current England captain, has had more than he can chew. And Kevin Pietersen has not made his own job any easier, by voicing his thoughts and openly commenting on how he has felt being in the England dressing room in recent times.
Pietersen is perhaps not the only England players desperate to go back home to comfort rather than watch the topsy turvy nature of their results on this tour. It has been a tough grind, made harder still on Pietersen who was handed the pink slip as captain of the team before the tour. With so much blown out of proportion regarding the rifts between him and former England coach, Peter Moores, Pietersen did not have the best mind frame coming into the series.
His homesickness, his brazen talk about everything he has felt and his comments and criticism on players such as Shivnarine Chanderpaul have only added to his image as a troubled man stranded in a room he does not want to be. Pietersen is now apparently on thin ice as patience in England is wearing thin. His homesickness apart, the fact that he continues to voice his thoughts that do not paint the England team and dressing room in a pleasant light is stretching matters so much that even his back injury while bowling to Chanderpaul in the fourth ODI is being questioned.
That will only incense Pietersen more. But if he wants a career that is more than a stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he had better get some help soon. Psychological assistance would perhaps help him put matters in perspective and help him move on.
