India failed to qualify for the finals of the Women’s World Cup. But while New Zealand going into the finals in roaring form, England will look regain after their defeat to Australia, the latter now play India in the final face off for the third spot.

India’s Priyanka Roy picked four for fourteen runs while running through a West Indian team that saw five ducks including that of skipper Merissa Aguillera. But it was not near enough to push through for a place in the finals, a disappointment for the last edition’s runners up.
Australia faced a similar story in that they managed to beat England comfortably but knew from the very beginning that irrespective of the result, the defending champions were not going to have a chance to defend their title.
Instead England’s opponents in the final are New Zealand who smashed their way while trouncing Pakistan by a whopping margin of 223 runs. New Zealand ended up making 373 in their allotted fifty overs with Haidee Tiffen scoring a fine century and Suzie Bates stealing the thunder from her skipper with a sparkling knock of 168.
Two interesting battles but only one can yield the team that wears the crown!
