The Jamaican police claims to have made a breakthrough into the enquiry of the sensational murder of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer with a likely suspect being identified through footage from the hotel security camera. A statement issued by the Jamaican Justice Ministry, late on Thursday, admits that a significant advance has been made in the investigations of the murder case.

Detectives from Scotland Yard and a team of 30 prominent officers studied the digitally-enhanced footage and the suspect was understood to be a male, though police were unable to confirm his identity.The investigating officers are advised by the ministry to pursue the new developments with maximum exigency. The ministry is hopeful of getting the final results within couple of days. The statement issued by it reads,

The coroner wishes that these new and significant developments be pursued with the utmost urgency, taking into account that the officer in charge has advised that these new developments are critical to the progress and the eventual results of the investigations themselves.If it becomes necessary for an inquest to be held after the new and material developments have been investigated, then another date for the holding of the inquest will be appointed.

Bob Woolmer, one of the most respected cricket coaches of the world was found dead in his hotel room in Kingston on March 18. The subsequent investigations revealed that his death was a case of murder by strangulation. The heinous act was discovered after Woolmer’s Pakistan team lost its match to debutants Ireland.

There are speculations that betting mafia or underworld syndicate might have been involved in the murder. Gossip also going on that Woolmer was about to reveal player-betting mafia relations in his yet to be published book. The plot thickened more after the Scotland Yard police was called in to help in the investigation. Toxicology of his viscera recognized existence of poisonous substances like aconite in his blood. Further work is being done on statements given by individuals to look at any inconsistencies.

Lets hope that justice will be done to Bob and his favoured game remain free from such incidents of disrepute.And everyone wishes that truth will prevail on coming 23rd April when the report comes out.
