Movies inspired by cricket have been the trend in Bollywood in recent times. Then how far could be corruption?

Now apparently two former India cricketers, Nikhil Chopra and Saba Karim, are set to reveal lurid details about the nexus between cricketers and bookies in a movie titled "World Cup 2011" directed by newcomer Ravi Kapoor who also stars in it.

Given the recent brouhaha about Pakistan's semi final loss in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 in South Africa, perhaps the mood to be revealing a movie on these lines would not perhaps be ideal. Given team India's dismal performance, it could only add more drama to it with the theme of the movie being to expose the nexus between cricket and the underworld.

Previously a bookie based movie "Jannat" starring Imran Hashmi did reasonably well despite clashing with the IPL. However, the movie with am ambitious girl, Rani Mukherjee, learning cricket from Shahid Afridi tanked in the recent movie "Dil Bole Hadippa". The cricket based movies, apart from Shreyas Telpade starrer "Iqbal", have thus received rather mixed response, with the Mandira Bedi- Anil Kumble movie "Meerabai Not Out" getting coverage only largely because of Kumble's taking offence.
