Sri Lanka's match against Australia may have been rained out despite a promising start. But some of the remarks and rumours have been nasty that the Sri Lankan team has had to contend with in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Australia are not the only team dealing with the fixing rumours over their slow start against Zimbabwe. There were unsubstantiated reports in some of the Sri Lankan newspapers naming a distraught Mahela Jayawardene for Pakistan beating Sri Lanka last week.
While Jayawardene has threatened to go the legal route, Muttiah Muralitharan's old nemesis cropped up on the sidelines. Umpire Darrell Hari continued to make potentially harrowing statements, suggesting that Muralitharan had not won over the umpires, including those officiating int he ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, but that rather than get into trouble by catching him out for chucking, they would rather have him retire by the end of the World Cup and happy to see the back of him.
Sri Lanka have had to deal with swirling rumours and remarks that could have been potentially upsetting. It would not have boded well then at all that Shaun Tait was having a go at Tillekeratne Dilshan even though the game failed to go to its desired conclusion.
