O'Brien is said to have stated to the effect, "Rest assured that we will take whatever steps are necessary in whatever part of the world, to ensure that agreements with our business are honoured and complied with and our good name and reputation preserved.

"There is nothing unusual or improper about the payments agreed to be made by Sony to WSG pursuant to the facilitation deed. These monies never due or owing to the BCCI."

Terming the termination of the contract as an means to "serve the interest of an internal agenda, O'Brien told Srinivasan, "The fact that you have now sought to use us as a pawn in this game is extremely disappointing and something we can no longer sit by and allow you to do."

The BCCI had terminated all IPL deals with the Mauritius based WSG after matters of facilitation fees emerged as also, possible surrepitious paybacks for the suspended IPL Chairman and Commissioner, Lalit Modi. But the WSG has decided it will take the BCCI to task over the terminated deals. It has also claimed that BCCI had no right to claim money as their own from WSG's deal with Sony's MSM.
