N. Srinivasan, the BCCI secretary, released a press statement to the effect, "Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the forthcoming Sri Lanka series because of a shoulder injury. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has chosen Abhimanyu Mithun to replace him."
