Zak, Better Things Expected of You!

From the point of view of the current times, few things are more important than team building and cooperation. In that, Zaheer Khan cannot be faulted on the pitch on the first day. But his skirmish with the security, that we could do without.

This was not expected of Zaheer Khan. But perhaps it is a fact that the level of security was perhaps already getting a little claustrophobic for the cricketers or that they were yet to adjust fully to the idea of having 5000 cops and 3000 commandos in their faces. But there can be no excuses for Zaheer’s behaviour.

Apparently Zaheer Khan arrived at the Taj Coromandel hotel, where the Indian cricket team has been put up, with his friend, Tamil Nadu player, Thiru Kumaran. His first annoyance was from the fact that Kumaran who did not have a valid entry pass was not allowed. What irked Zaheer even more was the fact that his friend was being frisked.

But little should Zaheer know that any one would be embarrassed to be frisked, it was agreed upon that all of us would undergo a little bit of inconvenience whether it is being frisked, having our bags checked in and out of hotels, and hospitals or other public places and go through metal detectors in the interest of our own safety, this kind of behaviour at the very start of a tour that was prematurely truncated because of the horrendous terror strikes comes in poor taste and unbecoming of a sportsman.
