Needing to win the match against Sri Lanka to stay alive with a chance to make it to the final for the Zimbabwe ODI Tri series, India seemed to have found their rhythm and then, lose it when it mattered only to come back in time to post a decent total.

There was one crucial partnership that was swinging it for India, an eighty-four alliance between Virat Kohli and Yusuf Pathan for the third wicket. Rohit Sharma played his part too.
Yet India needed a quickfire half century partnership from Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin as India lost wickets perilously as they touched the 200 run mark by which time things started to go awry, India losing their captain, Suresh Raina, with the score reading 206 for six in the forty-second over after India looked like they would go well past the 300 mark.
But the rescue act from Ashwin, on debut, making a thirty-two ball thirty-eight runs, ensured India would still remain competitive despite the hiccup to post 268 for nine at the end of their fifty overs.
Earlier, Kohli played the lead role, making sixty-eight runs while also, sharing an impetus building partnership with Pathan who himself made forty-four runs at a breezy past to keep India on target for a big score. India will feel relieved they made what they made rather than feel let down for not capitalizing enough because of the rescue.
