When India's batting collapse with barely ten overs to go, the writing was on the wall. India had let slip the opportunity to post a colossal total on board, this despite being given an impetus by the thirty over mark.
Chasing 269, Sri Lanka though never lost sight of the target. Dinesh Chandimal was at the forefront of ensuring that Sri Lanka's neighbours were done and dusted at the Harare Sports Club with an enterprising ODI century that showed Sri Lanka's emphatic performance. Supporting him in that decisive third wicket partnership of 114 runs was Chamara Kapugedera ensured that even with a run a ball situation, there was little doubt as to who would cross the line victorious.
That India fell short by at least thirty runs did them in badly as for the Sri Lankans, it was merely a job of keeping their head on their shoulders on the way to collecting four more points as Thilan Samarawera and Jeevan Mendis completed the formalities in comfortable fashion.
