The county championship season is witnessing a strange start as two of Essex cricketers are under a police investigation.
In what appeared to be a case of illegal betting, the Essex Police are working with the Essex County Cricket Board and the ECB to get to the truth of the matter.
The statement released by the Essex Police states: “Following allegations received about two Essex County Cricket players involved in match irregularities, we have initiated an investigation and are working closely with Essex County Cricket Club and the England Cricket Board.”
