The ICC had already had its bonanza in one of the two semi finals. The results of the two semi finals bring the cricket home. But why stop at it when Sachin Tendulkar has still one more innings to play in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011?
The ICC chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, had previously hoped that the personal success of Sachin Tendulkar and the collective success of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 would coincide in one grand affair. As it turns out, those hopes are still alive with the India v Sri Lanka ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final set to get under way at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in less than twenty-four hours.

Sachin Tendulkar failed to get to the 100th international centuries milestone when he managed to score eighty-five runs in the India v Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semi final in Mohali. That has still left him on 99 100′s although Tendulkar accelerated towards that milestone courtesy two World Cup centuries already in this edition of the tournament.

Now that Tendulkar is living his dream of playing the final of a World Cup in his home town, perhaps Tendulkar already has his inspiration. However, the ICC may be another matter. Not only would they like the tournament to be an overhwhelming success, but also archive it into history with something so unimginable in the sport that it raises the profile of the tournament and of the final. What better way to do it than with the self anointed mascot? Stumpy, get in line.
